In recognition of National Nutrition Month, Crisis Control Ministry will hold its 18th annual “Wee Care! Cereal Drive” from March 1-23, 2018.
Throughout Forsyth County, elementary schools, preschools and day care centers will collect cereal to be distributed through the Client Choice Food Pantries at Crisis Control Ministry offices in both Winston-Salem and Kernersville. Last year over 1,900 boxes of cereal were collected by participating students in 30 schools.
“We love this drive every year because it helps stock our shelves, but also because it is such a great way for children to understand helping those who are less fortunate fill an essential need,” said Crisis Control Ministry’s Executive Director, Margaret Elliott. “Letting kids pick their favorite cereals and teaching them that they will get to pass them to other kids and families is a hands-on, tangible lesson.”
Participating schools and centers will have collection bins available from March 1-23. Teachers can also obtain curriculum information from Crisis Control to use alongside the drive. Other local businesses and organizations are welcome and encouraged to participate in the drive if they would like.
